Matemwe Attitude is a new beautifully designed hotel located on one of our favourite sites in North East Zanzibar at Matemwe. The hotel is made up of several villas split into 5 different categories, all of luxury status. The hotel replaces Matemwe Bungalows, one of our original stalwart boutique hotels in Zanzibar. We are delighted that its rebuild under Attitude Hotels will make it a secret gem in our portfolio as it reopens its doors in late 2025.
Matemwe Attitude sits adjacent to the fantastic stretch of beach at Matemwe with fantastic views to Mnemba Island opposite. Guests will enjoy looking out over the turquoise seas, watching the dhows as they float by and taking into the atmosphere of this wonderful lodge.
The lodge is composed of 74 villas split into 5 categories:
24 swim-up villas (74sqm) with direct access to the pool
22 deluxe villas (78sqm) for an immersion in nature
8 deluxe villas with partial sea view (78sqm) for an immersion in nature
12 seafront villas (101sqm) facing the turquoise lagoon
8 beachfront villas (101sqm) facing the turquoise lagoon
All villas are extremely spacious with design rooted in nature and tradition. The villas benefit from private pool, outdoor areas with sun loungers, air-conditioning, fans, wifi, safe, mini bar, tea & coffee making facilities. Please note there are no TVs!
Outside of your villa you can enjoy the 2 restaurants and 3 bars at the property: the main restaurant with tasty buffet, the beach restaurant with barbecue, beach shack, pool bar and lounge bar.
For something a little more active there is plenty of snorkelling, a marine discover centre, local cooking class plus spa, board games and library for your pleasure.
