A superb holiday tailored for those who want to see the best of northern Tanzania, but with more time to...
A safari in Ngorongoro Crater is remarkable for its dramatic, sunken caldera, a natural amphitheatre teeming with wildlife. Within its walls, you can see lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalo, and wildebeest in one compact ecosystem. The crater’s fertile plains, soda lakes, and steep walls create breathtaking scenery and unmatched wildlife density. Guided game drives offer intimate, up-close encounters, while luxury lodges on the rim provide sweeping views. Combining geology, biodiversity, and accessibility, Ngorongoro delivers a once-in-a-lifetime safari experience where Africa’s raw wilderness meets spectacular natural beauty
The rolling hills, abundant baobab trees, mixed woodland and river valley make this a very attractive park which is often missed out by travellers on the mainstream safari circuit. As a result, there are often low visitor numbers which is a genuine bonus especially for family safari trips.
Tarangire is wonderful, especially from June to November when a game drive here is a must, and to stay here is highly recommended. From December to March, the wildlife here is still excellent, but it does get hot.
Our favourite tented camps located inside the park include Ndovu Tented Lodge or Tarangire Acacia Camp, and Oliver’s Camp or Kigelia Camp ooze quality and suit those after something refined, private and authentic.
Outside the park and in the animal corridor between Tarangire and Lake Manyara, Maramboi Tented Lodge is also a lovely option, or for somewhere top end, Chem Chem Safaris have a range of tented options that are very special in its own private concession area.
Maramboi Tented Lodge is situated on the shores of Lake Manyara within the migratory corridor of Manyara and Tarangire.
Tarangire Ndovu Tented Lodge is a luxury camp perfectly placed to track massive herds of elephant as they look for…
Oliver’s Camp is a superb small tented camp in a wonderful remote location in south-east Tarangire.
We have been all over the world, and in the Serengeti Krish hugged us and said this was the best trip he has been on. So that about sums it all! Tarangire was amazing and the landscape changed throughout the day, from the highlands to the grassy plains, this is a great reserve.
