Set among formal English gardens with sweeping views across the valley below, the Farmhouse and cottages are the heart of a working farm.
Built in 1929, the Farmhouse has hardly changed, retaining the charm of a well looked-after colonial private house. Fireplaces fill the main building with warmth, and comfortable living rooms and relaxed reading areas connect to the main dining room, bar and gift shop. Just outside at the front is a sprawling veranda which is the perfect setting for a relaxed breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea.
The newly upgraded cottages are wonderful – chic and boutique in style with hardwood floors, classic style interiors, wraparound windows, luxurious bathtubs and indoor / outdoor showers.
As you can imagine Gibbs Farm takes it’s food very seriously and you will enjoy the high quality, local produce throughout any stay. A tour of the coffee fields, the dairy or the huge fruit, vegetable and herb gardens can easily be arranged and is both fun and interesting.
We’ve always enjoyed Gibbs Farm as it is something different from the wilderness and wildlife experiences that make up the majority of time within a safari. Well worth more than just one night enroute to or from the Ngorongoro and Serengeti.
