A cool boutique hotel bang in the middle of Stonetown. A great little spot for an overnight stay in this increasingly vibrant and fun town. The 8 rooms are well designed and extremely comfortable with air conditioning and modern bathrooms en suite. The hotel has a lovely little rooftop pool with cool bar for sundowners. Also is a lovely restaurant, The Fifth, serving modern eclectic food.
Upendo House is located on Hurumzi Street, the main bubbling street of Stonetown. It’s a great little find and you will enjoy the personal service of this small contemporary hotel – most suitable for young couples and those young in spirit (note taxis cannot get to the door – you’ll need to take a short walk). There are just 8 well appointed rooms, either standard or superior in category, all with air conditioning and all of different designs. The top floor bar, with adjacent pool, is a fun spot for sundowners overlooking Stonetown and the ocean beyond. The restaurant is great for lunch and supper alike serving modern food with a Zanzibar twist.
