Shumba Camp

Shumba Camp has a wonderful location situated in the centre of the Busanga Plains close to the permanant water and within easy reach of the teeming floodplains. A high end luxury camp built on raised platforms with spectacular views.

Shumba Camp comprises six spacious luxury safari tents on raised platforms with spectacular views of the surrounding plains.

The rooms are large, en-suite with both indoor and outdoor showers. Canvas walls are fastened around a wood-and-pole structure to create a substantial and solid tented room with views out over the plains. Outside each room is a decking area with built in lounge seating which is a very comfortable area to kick back and relax.

The dining and bar area is elevated so as to take in this vista and each morning’s sunrise with cool shaded areas for use during the day. The lounge and dining room sit within the main building with glass doors which can be open or shut depending on the weather. There is also an outdoor sunken lounge area and campfire and a seperate swimming pool area at one end of the main deck.

Guests have the option of game drives in and around the Plains and water-based activities during the early months of the season. Night drives provide an extra dimension.

As the dry season progresses the plains become full of antelope which brings with it a wealth of predators including wild dog, cheetah and prides of lion. Feedback on the quality of the guiding has always been excellent.

Whilst Shumba Camp is “premier” luxury we do not fee that it is “over the top” and has a very comfortable feel and atmosphere. We really liked it.
