The Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa has come about from the unlikely marriage between a very cool boutique hotel and one of the world’s most famous mainstream hotel chains – but remarkably it works.
Originally built at the turn of the twentieth century, this was one of the first hotels in the Seychelles and is where Ian Fleming stayed while penning ‘For Your Eyes Only’. There is still the Ian Fleming Suite and the links between James Bond and the hotel certainly add an extra cool factor.
With beautifully appointed tree house style villas, all overlooking Beau Vallon Bay and the islands of North and Silhouette in the distance, a couple of great restaurants and a super spa, this is a stunning little bolthole, and ideally located for exploring Mahe. Dining out is easy (and very reasonable) at nearby Beau Vallon, and day trips around the island and to other islands generally depart within 15 minutes of the hotel, it’s all very easy.
The dining is excellent, varied, fresh and local. Choose anything from candlelit taster menus on the rocks to a buffet or room service on your deck – there is something to suit your mood – even Hilton mainstays like a Hilton Burger are possible, just ask.
The infinity pool here is fabulous and more than makes up for the lack of beach in front of the hotel. Beau Vallon Beach is only 5 minutes in a taxi if sand between your toes is an urgency.
We recommend Northolme for up to week, but ideally for 4 nights before you head to Praslin and/or a private island.
