The Banyan Tree Seychelles is a real tropical hideaway on the far south shores of Mahe. Framed by tropical jungle, exotic flowers and lush swaying palms, the beach is perfection and deserted almost all of the time. It really is the kind of place you need to keep pinching yourself as the views are almost unreal.
Accommodation is dotted up the hillside in sweet villas, almost hidden in the vegetation, and all offering panoramic views. The Hillside Villas are not huge if compared to some of the newer big budget hotel additions to the island, but they are delightful, beautifully appointed and very private. Outside is a super infinity pool and sun bathing terrace. There is no need to upgrade here.
Most villas are located quite some distance up a steep hillside. This is a hotel where most guests enjoy their own company only venturing to public areas for lunch and dinner.
The dining is superb, as you would expect from a Banyan Tree hotel. Dining can be taken in your villa or at a choice of three restaurants, one offering casual snacks, one Creole fine dining, then a Banyan Tree speciality Asian restaurant.
The Banyan Tree Spa also deserves a special mention as it is incredible and is what Banyan Tree hotels do best. Your therapist has undergone years of training and all the treatments and therapies are home grown by Banyan Tree in Asia. The treatment canopies are super and really, this is a major reason to stay here – the spa is one of the best in the Indian Ocean.
We recommend Banyan Tree for up to week, either before heading to a private island or as your only Seychelles hotel after a safari.
