Sindabezi Island

Sindabezi Island is a unique and idyllic bush camp on its very own private isle on the Zambezi River just 17kms upstream for Victoria Falls.

Sindabezi Island is a small private island with five open-sided thatched cottages on the Zambezi river. This unusal and pristine setting offers views across the flood plains of the Zambezi and into the nearby National Park.

The main camp area is set on the sand and is a perfect place to relax, unwind and simply enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this tiny isle. There are two seperate decks: the secluded “mokoro” deck which is tucked away at the end of island; whilst the elevated “star gazing” deck is a wonderful spot for dining and game watching.

Each of the five cottages is set on stilts and open sided facing the river.  A state-of-the-art solar panelling set amidst the thatch means that all chalets enjoy hot water and bedside lighting, without forsaking the traditional camp atmosphere.

Chalet One is the sole cottage on the Zimbabwe side of the island. It has a wonderful view across the Zambezi River to the Victoria Falls National Park, where game such as elephant, impala and wildebeest come to the banks of the river.

Chalets Two and Three are tucked away on the northern banks of the river. They have heated showers, and distinctive ‘loos with a view’ set on a wooden walkway.
Chalet Four has a lovely view upstream and is perfect for spotting hippos wallowing in the river. At night time, a trail of hurricane lamps lights your way back to the chalet across the soft sand, where a luxurious, inviting canopied bed is very inviting.

Chalet Five is the ‘Honeymoon’ chalet and is situated on a secluded sandy shore of the island. A feature of the chalet is the free-standing bath with a view.

Many guests combine Sindabezi with a stay at it’s sister property, Tongabezi Lodge, a short boat ride away.
