Kasaka River Lodge is situated high on the banks of theย Zambeziย River in a beautiful natural bush environment.
The Lodgeย has a “tame side” with beautiful manicured gardens and colourful indigenous plants and a ‘wild side’ for the more adventurous, which is connected to the main lodge by overhead walkways to allow for the passage of wildlife within the camp.
The eight “chalets” are luxury tents and tastefully decorated with an authentic African flavour. Each has an elegantly furnished en-suite bathroom with flush toilets and powerful heated showers. The honeymoon suite which is the last chalet on the river’s edge to the west of the ‘wild’ side section of the lodgeย is beautifully set up with a perfect view down the river.
There are also two “family” style suites which are the “Hippo Pod” and “Acacia”ย Suite with two rooms in each and privacy as required. Kasakaย has an excellent set up for families including a “Bush Kidsย Programme”.
Kasaka’s bar and deck area are nestled amongst huge tamarind trees and is the perfect location for watching the world go by on the river. The leather lounge chairsย and sofas are a perfect spot toย read orย snooze afterย the day’s activities. There isย also aย pleasant library deck areaย which holdsย books of interest related to Africa.
The thatched dining area also overlooks the riverย whilst the lodgeย also arranges dinner on the deck area, around the pool and gardens or even out in the bush under the stars.
Theย swimming pool isย situated on the ‘tame side’ with a panoramic view of the river and valley. Sunloungers, large sunshades and two hammocks make this an easy place toย kick back andย relax during the quieter part of the day.
We visited Kasaka River Lodge in October 2009 and it surpassed our expectations. The lodge is comfortable, relaxed and friendly with excellent hosting and guiding. Great value for money.

We had an amazing family holiday (2 kids aged 10) and the service and recommendations from S&B were fantastic. Local Masai Wanderings guide (Clement) was brilliant, knowledgeable and friendly and a real joy to travel with. Everything went very smoothly which was a testament to the organisation by S&B. Many thanks to Nick and the team, we will be back!
When you book a holiday like this you know it’s going to be early starts and early nights, and on the go Inbetween. It is the most rewarding experience, and the mix of luxury and tented accommodation makes you appreciate both, the consistent is the level of service from all staff, and their inherent friendliness was an added bonus.
I am just back from Tanzania and wanted to thank you very much for a fantastic itinerary. I loved all the accommodation choices made, all the connecting flights worked well and the guide was superb. I had a great time and let me know if you want to get some more feedback on any of the properties suggested by you and also Pongwe Beach which excellent.
We had the BEST time! I have been struggling to put into words how amazing our honeymoon actually was. By the time we got to Selous Riverside Safari Camp it was after lunch so weโd missed the afternoon trip but we went on the river safari late afternoon which was brilliant, could only be discribed as breathtaking for our first few sightings.
