7 Reasons a Safari and Beach Holiday Makes the Perfect Honeymoon

  • 16/04/2019
  • Safari and Beach News

You’ve said ‘I do’ to your best friend, you’ve got a freezer full of fruit cake and you’re now coming down from one of the happiest days of your life. But don’t worry, you’ve still got one of the best bits about getting married to look forward to – the honeymoon! With thrilling bush drives and luxury accommodation, a safari and beach honeymoon will push you out of your comfort zone and then pull you very much back into it.

Here are 7 reasons a safari honeymoon is the perfect place to spend those first few days of wedded bliss.

You’ll have a Unique Experience

One of the amazing things about a safari honeymoon is that even if you’re lucky enough to have been on safari before, each experience is totally different. The natural world cannot be controlled, so you never know what to expect. This is part of the thrill of safari. You might come across a pride of tree-climbing lions or watch elephants bathing themselves in a nearby river. One thing’s for certain – no two days are ever the same.

Having both a safari and a beach holiday as part of your honeymoon means you get the traditional tropical beach honeymoon, without missing out on something a little more unusual – you get the best of both worlds.

It’s the Perfect All-Rounder

Did we mention having the best of both worlds? By opting for a safari experience with a beach break, you can satisfy both adventure seekers and sun worshippers. You combine activity with relaxation and experience stunning landscapes in Africa as well as soft, white sand and crystal clear seas.

You truly do get more for your experience. Plus, if you’re flying to Africa for your safari, you’re right next to some of the most beautiful beaches. The Indian Ocean is known for its stunning islands, so you’re in exactly the right place for the classic paradise beach style honeymoon.

We usually recommend visiting the bush first before flying out to the coast as this allows you to end your holiday on a relaxing note. Or, if you have time, you could even start with the beach, head out for your safari, and finish up on the beach once more.

You get to Design your Ideal Trip

When you choose your honeymoon, being able to choose every element isn’t always possible. But with Safari&Beach we create tailor-made itineraries inspired by you – whether that means gorilla trekking in Uganda or doing a spice tour in Stone Town.

Does an authentic tented camp appeal to you or would you prefer a safari lodge with an infinity pool that looks out over the plains of Africa? Perhaps you’d like to sleep under the stars. There are so many options to consider when planning. The good news? We’ll help you figure out everything, so you get the honeymoon of your dreams. You can even add extra special items, like hot air balloon rides over the Serengeti.

The Dry Season Coincides with Wedding Season

Many popular safari destinations in Africa have dry months that coincide with wedding season. South Africa’s dry months are from May to October, spanning the late spring and summer wedding season. Kenya’s Masai Mara and Tanzania’s Serengeti are at their best from July to September which means you can get married at the start of the summer, before jetting off to witness the spectacle that is the wildebeest migration. Dubbed the ‘World Cup of Wildlife’, this annual event sees around 2 million wildebeest, zebra, antelope and gazelle moving through the Masai Mara ecosystems in search of fresh grasslands and water.

You’ll Get Some Amazing Honeymoon Pictures

As lovely as they are, why should wedding photos get all the mantelpiece exposure? We think that Honeymoon pictures are just as lovely – especially if they feature some of the most majestic wildlife in their natural surroundings. On safari, every backdrop feels like a photo opportunity – whether you’re posing poolside while sipping sundowners during ‘golden hour’ or snapping a loved-up couple selfie in the back of a 4×4.

Add to your album, and make your social media followers jealous, with the idyllic backgrounds for the beach portion of your honeymoon. Sunloungers looking out over perfect blue seas, cocktails and sunsets, his and hers flipflops on perfect white sands… Your photos have never looked so good.

It’s more Affordable than you Think

When people think of a safari holiday, they often assume it will be out of their price range. However, it is absolutely possible to book a safari and beach itinerary that doesn’t break the bank. When you plan a safari and beach holiday with us, we’ll discuss your budget and then start planning from there. For example, we can do a 10 night Tanzania safari itinerary from approx £2490 per person (excluding flights).

If you do have big dreams, however, we can help you create a truly luxury safari that befits your once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon. Whether that’s the finest lodges, extra experiences, infinity pools and private dinners

You can make Lifelong Friends

In addition to having your own private space, many safari camps or lodges have communal areas where you can interact with the other guests. Camps often have a roaring fire during the evening where guests swap stories of their adventures over a beverage or two. These kinds of experiences can result in making lifelong friends.

A safari and beach honeymoon is a wonderful way to start your life as a married couple. It combines romance, adventure and relaxation – three components that make a good start for a happy marriage.
