WHERE TO STAY IN ZANZIBAR
Zanzibar has managed to find a fantastic balance between being relatively unspoiled and having enough popularity to justify a range of accommodation options. Depending on what you’re looking for, you’ll find small guest houses, luxury lodges, boutique properties, hotels on the beach, and even a couple of resort-style hotels to choose from.
If you’re travelling with a family, you might be more interested in some of the more mainstream hotels. If you’re on a honeymoon or retreat, we’ve got some exclusive hideaways that will appeal.
We can help you choose between beach resorts or Stone Town hotels, depending on what you want to do while you’re here.
WHERE TO GO IN TANZANIA
Tanzania is a country with diverse and spectacular sights. The Northern Circuit offers the spectacular Serengeti and the natural wonder of Ngorongoro Crater. The southern parks include the Selous Game Reserve – one of the greatest reserves in the world – and Ruaha. You can find mountains, lakes, flood plains, and incredible landscapes no matter where you stay.
Big 5 game spotting is practically a given in Tanzania, but you can also find chimpanzees in the Mahale Mountains, hyena in Ngorongoro, and if you’re very lucky, wild dogs in Ruaha.
THINGS TO DO IN ZANZIBAR
If you thought Zanzibar was just a beach destination, it’s time to think again. It does have some of the world’s most beautiful beaches – so if you want to relax after your safari, you’ll be in paradise – but it has a lot more on offer, too.
Kite Surfing – steady shore winds make Zanzibar a haven for kite surfers. If you’ve always wanted to try, now’s your chance.
Diving – clear turquoise seas offer magnificent diving opportunities, with manta rays, green turtles and hawksbills all in attendance.
Forests – take a walk through Jozani forest, the last indigenous forest on Zanzibar, and see if you can spot the rare Red Colobus Monkeys.
Walking tours – explore Stone Town and take in the Sultan’s Palace, House of Wonders, and the food markets.
Prison Island – sail out to this historic and nature-filled island, see the ruins of the prison and take a picture with the giant tortoises – if they’re in the mood.
