Oberoi Mauritius

The Oberoi is a favourite for honeymoon couples in the north of the island.

Rooms & suites:

Every room features a romantic four-poster bed. Wooden slatted ceilings and wall-to-wall neutral tones contribute to a feeling of relaxed grandeur. Each bathroom has a separate shower and a sunken bath overlooking an open-air walled garden.  All rooms come with satellite television & DVD player, broadband internet access, electronic safe, direct dial telephone, personal bar, 24 hours private dining.  The hotel villas, each with its own lush gardens and dining gazebo, most of them overlooking a private swimming pool or views of the sea, make an exclusive and luxurious retreat for those seeking privacy.

Luxury Pavilion. This 70 square meter air-conditioned thatched pavilion with spacious bedroom and sitting area with a choice of either a king-size bed or hollywood twin beds. Each pavilion has a spacious terrace for private dining and overlooks the gardens and the Indian Ocean.

Luxury Villa with Private Garden.  Set within a walled sub-tropical garden, it has an open air-dining pavilion also set amidst a lush garden, where one can enjoy al-fresco dining.

Luxury Villa with Private Pool.  These Villas offer all the features of The Luxury Villa but also have their own swimming pool, measuring 8 x 4.5 meters, set within the walled courtyard garden.

Royal Villa.  Located within a lush tropical garden of over 650 square meters, an elegantly appointed living room overlooking a 55 square meter private pool and the Indian Ocean. The villa has a separate bedroom which offers breathtaking views of the sea. It also has an open air thatched dining pavilion providing the ideal setting for al-fresco dining. The Royal Villa comes with an option of either an adjacent Luxury Villa with garden or an adjacent Luxury Pavilion.

Dining:

The restaurant at The Oberoi, Mauritius features a soaring roof of palm-thatched timbers and panoramic views across the Indian Ocean. Dine inside among the pillars, or outside under the stars on a fabulous menu featuring European, Oriental and Creole dishes, reflecting the multicultural flavour of the island and introducing fresh local fruits, vegetables and spices. With exotic flowers, candles flickering on the surface of the pool, the strange evening song of the frogs and the spectacular sunsets, you could be forgiven for thinking you had gone to heaven!  (Dress Code: At the Bar and The Restaurant, dress code during the day is casual and for the evening it is smart casual. Gentlemen are kindly requested to wear in the evening long trousers and shirts with sleeves. Shorts and swimwear may not be worn in the Restaurant or Bar after 6.00 pm).

Spa:

The Spa at the The Oberoi Mauritius is quite simply a sanctuary. Facilities include a beauty parlour, steam bath, gym and individual spa suites with private jacuzzis where you can luxuriate together. Traditional Mauritian treatments using natural local oils and fruits star alongside conventional therapies.  The modern gym is fully equipped to burn off any excess calories, with pool and tennis courts alongside.

Being part of this established international chain, the Oberoi Mauritius guarantees a minimum level of luxury.  It is fairly formulaic but does deliver a high degree of comfort with all the facilities you would expect from a five star international resort.  The beach is somewhat limited but there are plenty of beautiful pools and sea views to make up for it.  Always a hit on Tripadvisor.
