Dar Es Salaam (Dar) is Tanzania’s largest city, – the commercial and social centre of the country with a lively and bustling character. Most international travellers fly in and out of Dar so when necessary, an overnight stay may be required for which there is a choice of good quality hotels.
Dar es Salaam is a busy city by the coast that is the largest city in Tanzania, but is not the capital. (The capital is actually Dodoma, right in the centre of the country).
Being the transport hub of Tanzania, you may well end up passing through Dar’s modern international airport and we can make this work seamlessly for you.
However, sometimes an overnight is required, and we have checked out just about every hotel and guesthouse in the city. The Hyatt Regency is very easy and comfortable, while The Slipway is well located and low cost.
Dar es Salaam is only 20 minutes by air from Zanzibar, it’s quick and easy. We do not recommend the ferry which is generally unreliable.
