Madikwe Hills Private Lodge

Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge is ingeniously set amongst boulders and age old Tamboti Trees in the middle of Madikwe on a rocky outcrop offering stunning views in the malaria free Madikwe Game Reserve. It is ideal for honeymoons and those seeking a romantic safari experience.

The lodge accommodates up to 24 guests in a vast, well-spaced and completely private glass-fronted suites scattered across the hillside, camouflaged by tamboti-beamed thatch roofs.  Wooden walkways lit by hurricane lamps criss-cross the grounds and connect the suites to the main central lounge, bar, wine cellar, library and dining area.

The central area is the heart of the lodge as it’s here where dinner is served around 3 large mahogony tables, a nice relaxing bar area where guests and rangers can re-live the days sightings with pre-dinner drinks/cocktails.  Dinner is a silver-service experience of memorable proportions, accompanied by superb South African wine carefully selected to match your evenings menu.

The main swimming pool offers cool respite from the harsh African sun.

The lodge boasts 10 supremely spacious and luxurious suites which you will find hard to leave. Each suite has a cosy living room with huge slated clad chimney leading into the bedroom with 4 poster bed overlooking a waterhole.

Your room has glass walled sliding doors allowing you to open up your room to nature and where on your large private deck you can relax on your sunlounger or dip into your small plunge pool.  All bathrooms are oversized and luxurious each with a deep 4 claw buth tub, and outdoor shower. Two of the suites can be combined with the Private Villa at Little Madikwe creating an exclusive and private camp for small groups or families up to 8 persons.

Little Madikwe is a self-contained 2 bedroom private villa (390sqm) which accomodates 4 to 5 guests and has it’s own dedicated game ranger and private game vehicle, includingyour own private chef and a personal butler to take care of your every need.  You can increase this capacity by linking rooms 9 & 10 from the Main Lodge to suit a family or small group.  The villa has it’s own swimming pool with private dining in the villa, away from the other guests in the main lodge.

Children over 10 years are welcome at the main lodge and children of any age are welcome in the private villa of Little Madikwe. Little Madikwe offers a Junior Ranger programme creating awareness of the special bush environment, by offering hands on experiences such as studying of animal dung, tracking, learning about the big and small creatures and are given “funwork” to help re-inforce what they have learnt before the afternoon game drives. Ultimately, Madikwe Hills are seeking to deliver an unforgettable wildlife experience for all concerned.
