Kwara Camp is located in the remote northern part of the stunning Okavango Delta within the private Kwara concession. This is a magnificent wilderness area bordering the Moremi Reserve.
Kwara Camp fronts onto a huge floodplain, adjacent to the permanent water of the Delta and is backed by extensive bush. Kwara encompasses a wide diversity of habitats, ranging from the clear Delta waters with reed-lined lagoons and channels, to open grasslands, mopane woodlands and palm-fringed islands.
The camp has eight luxury safari-style tents built on raised decks, within a grove of huge and ancient African Ebony trees. Each tent has its own viewing deck, private en-suite facilities including hot and cold running showers, flush toilets and modern amenities.
There is also a honeymoon suite with its own special bathroom with an antique slipper bath with the traditional ball and claw feet.
The main area of the camp is a thatched lodge with a curio shop at the front that leads into a comfortable lounge and bar area. This area is slightly raised which sets up a very pleasant view across the shallow lagoon whilst you relax with a drink or reading one of the natural history books in the small library.
Adjacent to the lounge is a large dining hall which is open-sided and also has views over the lagoon. Resident hippos serenade the camp year round from the water on the floodplain in front of the camp.
There is a plunge pool set on the edge of the main lodge on a pleasant decked area, and you can relax on sun-loungers here. Between the lodge and the lagoon is the camp fire area which is lit in the early mornings and evenings. This is a great place to have your early morning cup of tea or coffee, sundowner drinks or nightcap.
Activities include morning and afternoon game drives which are conducted by the camps specialist guides and trackers in open safari vehicles. However the focus is also on the water with the option of mekoro trips through the shallow waters or visiting the famous Godikwe lagoon, where you can stand on a boat literally eye to eye with thousands of herons, storks and other nesting birds.
The camp also offers walks with a guide on one of the many palm-fringed islands and also spectacular night drives where the trackers skills are .
Our most recent visit to Kwara Camp was in May 2009 and we had a superb time. The camp staff and guides were great and the atmosphere was really relaxing. The location of the camp overlooking the lagoon is perfect and we enjoyed the excellent guiding seeing lots of big game including a pack of wild dogs.

We had a brilliant time thanks and it is a shock to the system being back in the cold and at work!! Lagoon Camp was excellent, a great recommendation – we saw a pack of wild dogs on 2 occasions – not a kill, but they were hunting a herd of wildebeest and it was quite a sighting.
