Chiefâ??s Camp is a luxury camp situated on Chiefâ??s Island in the exclusive Mombo Concession of the Moremi Game Reserve. This area is well known for it’s high volume of predators as well as large herds of elephant and buffalo.
Chief’s Camp is located on Chief’s Island, one of the many islands created by the seasonal floodwaters of the Okavango. The island was named after Chief Moremi, the hereditary king of the area who used the lands as his royal hunting grounds.
The twelve guest pavilions are hidden away in a jackalberry and sausage tree woodland that is characteristic of the area. All have their own private decks and outdoor showers, as well as fully-equipped bathroom inside.
Each room is equipped with a hairdryer, ceiling fan, in-room safe, emergency hand held radios and minibar. Generously draped mosquito nets and traditional ceiling fans also feature.
The main lodge area has a communal decked living room with stunning views over the floodplains, while the dining area surrounds a fire pit on the very edge of the Piajio plains so that guests can continue their game viewing while enjoying the excellent food.
There is also a bar, curio shop, library and reception area. The main deck area is split-level and offers expansive views over the floodplain to the north. The lower level of the deck houses the swimming pool.
There is a treatment room at the camp with a range of treatments using Thalgo and Africology products.
Actitives from the camp include day and night game drives, mokoro and motorised boat excursions (June to September). Apart from its predators, the area is
also renowned for its large concentrations of plains-game, elephant and buffalo. Both white and black rhino were introduced here in 2001 and 2003 respectively.

We had a brilliant time thanks and it is a shock to the system being back in the cold and at work!! Lagoon Camp was excellent, a great recommendation – we saw a pack of wild dogs on 2 occasions – not a kill, but they were hunting a herd of wildebeest and it was quite a sighting.
