ACCOMMODATION DETAILS

Madikwe Safari Lodge is located in the quieter north western sector of the malaria free Madikwe Game Reserve and serves as one of the perfect lodges from which to explore the reserves hills, valleys and plains in search of the Big Five, plus cheetah and the rare African wild dog. The lodge offers amazing 4×4 safari game drives as well as guided bush walks.

The lodge has 20 suites which are split between 3 lodges giving it a more exclusive and personal and private feel.

The scenic beauty and the quality of the game viewing  are of an extremely high standard, aided by the use of guides staying in radio communication with one another keeping each other updated on the best sightings of the day, which ultimately leads to some incredibly close and wonderful wildlife encounters.

Each of the three lodges are uniquely different and give you the guest a choice to stay together as a group of family, or friends or to have a more private bush experience.  The staff here are trained to make you feel comfortable, welcome and deliver a home from home experience.

LELAPA LODGE
The largest of the three lodges is called Lelapa Lodge which is perfect for couples looking for a truly luxuriously lodge from which to experience safari.  Being the larger lodge, this will offer a more upbeat and social feel as you can meet and mingle with other guests staying at the lodge. The main lodge area exudes luxury and comfort built with wood and thatch and is immaculately designed and stunningly decorated.  Each of the suites is 100sqm in size offering superb levels of comfort, with a lovely lounge area, fireplace in the bedroom. Each suite has a large dressing room area with bathrooms which have large bath tubs, indoor and outdoor showers which flow onto the private wooden deck where you also have your own private plunge pool.  These suites can accommodate children on extra beds.  In room amenities include air-conditioning, ceiling fans, telephones, hairdryers, safe as well as mini bar.

KOPANO LODGE
Kopano Lodge is a separate 4 suite lodge sleeping maximum 8 persons. The rooms are designed along the same basis as the main Lelapa Lodge. This small intimate private lodge is ideally set up for exclusive use by small adult family groups. The lodge is operated independently from it’s sister lodges so you will have your own main lodge and dining area.

DITHABA LODGE
Dithaba Lodge, meaning ‘mountain’ is located slightly higher up the mountain and enjoys some fabulous views out over the open plains. This lodge is well suited to groups of friends or small family groups with children who wish to take sole use of the lodge and thereby maximise ultimate privacy and exclusivity. There are 4 suites, 110 sqm which can sleep 8 persons.  Children are welcome provided you take sole occupancy of the lodge. The suites themselves are also as luxurious fitted as the rooms at Lelapa Lodge with each suite enjoying it’s own plunge pool and viewing deck.  Like Kopano Lodge, the Dithaba Lodge is operated independently from the other lodges so you can dine and relax in your own exclusive lodge.

Wifi is available in the public areas of Lelapa Lodge only. Satellite television is also available in each of the lodges own public areas.  Lelapa and Kopano Lodge both offer, with assistance, rooms suitable for disabled guests.

Children of all ages are welcome at Madikwe Safari Lodge, though some of the lodges are more suitable than others. Many activities are available for them including family safari drives, bush orientation, dung tracking to the making of pizzas in the boma, star gazing.

Madikwe Safari Lodge is unique in that they have specially built an education centre for children called the ECO-HOUSE. The centre is managed by a field ranging team who will link the activities done outdoors with the additional learing and understanding of the environment in the Eco-House. This place is a hive of activity with painting, drawing, making models as well as a touch and smell of the live small creauture specimans.

General safari activities include a morning and afternoon game drive where you go in search of the Big 5 plus the other speciality creatures which make this reserve so well known.

A stay at Madikwe Safari Lodge offers you comfort, luxury and a fabulous all round game viewing experience.  It’s perfect for the 3-4 night safari for the discerning client looking for some incredibly special memories and combines well with a safari to the Kruger area or a stay in the Western Cape.  For those with limited time, it’s your perfect safari element to your multi centre stay when combining with a visit to the islands in the Indian Ocean, ie Mauritius, Mozambique and Zanzibar.

We had a brilliant time thanks and it is a shock to the system being back in the cold and at work!! Lagoon Camp was excellent, a great recommendation – we saw a pack of wild dogs on 2 occasions – not a kill, but they were hunting a herd of wildebeest and it was quite a sighting.
