Private Kilimanjaro Trek & Private Northern Parks Safari & Zanzibar If you can give us 3 weeks of your time,...
At 19,330ft (5895m) Mt.Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and the world’s largest free-standing mountain. The view of Kilimanjaro rising up from its flat surrounding plains with its distinctive snow-capped peak is one of Africa’s iconic sights.
Even more significant is that it is the highest mountain anywhere in the world that can be ascended by somebody on foot without the need for any specialised mountaineering experience or equipment. This makes it an irresistible challenge for many visitors who travel from far and wide to try and reach the summit.
Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is a serious undertaking and we can help you in understanding the different route options, pre-climb preparation, day-to-day experiences along with all clothing, equipment and safety precautions.
Our experience is extensive as we have been involved in planning climbs for over 10,000 customers in the last 10 years.
Below is a short summary of the routes which we can offer.
We would recommend the Rongai or Machame route for climbers who are less confident about their fitness and/or are hoping to complete the climb within a week.
For those who are more confident about their physical ability and have the time and budget to benefit from extra altitude acclimatisation should look at the Lemosho or Shira North Route.

Our climbs usually start with a couple of nights in Arusha for preparation and briefing and acclimatisation. We usually recommend a climb of 6 or 7 nights depending upon your physical ability and time!
The total walking distance to the top of Kilimanjaro is less than 40 miles but it has to be done extremely slowly (pole pole as the locals say), to maximise the chance of success. Walking at an extremely slow pace helps the body to adjust to the altitude – and you will be grateful for it with plenty of opportunities to stop, photograph the beautiful surroundings, drink water (plenty) and enjoy catered picnics.
Our organised climbs include a large porter group who carry your tents, luggage and set up camps for you along the way with chef and, very importantly, at least one experienced guide per group.
Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is not for the faint-hearted and requires ample consideration and preparation.
Our guide Godlove was nothing short of outstanding. We all agreed it was he who got us up the mountain and he who made our trip more special than we could imagine. He was supported by Polite who kept us entertained and charmed. The rest of the crew were also an inspiration – constantly smiling.
