The huge Palmwag concession area is located within the Kunene region of northwest Namibia between Etosha and the Skeleton Coast. A truly wild and scenic area, this is as far as most self-drive safaris will venture before acquiring the assistance of a local, expert guide from one of the lodges or camps.
The whole concession offers an abundance of space and intoxicating landscape, however the main attraction is the fascinating game viewing of the desert-adapted wildlife, ranging from the endemic Hartmann’s mountain zebra, desert elephant, lion, cheetah, giraffe, gemsbok and springbok, to the exciting possibility of black rhino.
There are some very cool places to stay and experience this fascinating region:
Luxury tented camp, superb guiding and rhino tracking: Rhino Camp.
Pristine and remote desert camp: Hoanib Camp.
Good value, old style lodge: Palmwag Lodge.
