Namibia’s main coastal town, Swakopmund is a popular holiday resort for Namibians or visitors looking for a more temperate climate, some local history and palm-lined streets with a good choice of restaurants, bars and shops.
A couple of nights here with the freedom to walk around and explore can be a welcome break from the desert and wilderness areas. The town also has a reputation for adventurous travellers, and offers a range of exciting activities including sky-diving, dune biking, sand boarding, quad biking and kayaking.
There is quite a range of accommodation which does vary in style and quality.
Central location, international style hotel: Hansa Hotel
Comfortable, rustic style and design: The Stiltz
