A stunning and varied adventure in Uganda. Here you will have the opportunity to follow chimpanzees and gorillas as well as big game viewing. This safari takes in plenty of changing scenery including the Kibale Forest, Queen Elizabeth National Park and Bwindi Jungle with varying forms of travel in safari vehicles, trekking on foot and a cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This is a fantastic week seeing all the top sights in this beautiful country and is easily combineable with a week on the beach either in Kenya or Zanzibar.
Your driver guide will meet you at Entebbe International airport and transfer you to the Boma Hotel, a charming little hotel in Entebbe and a great spot to relax before you start your adventure.
After breakfast drive from Entebbe to Fort Portal via Mubende. This scenic journey takes around 6 hours with a break for a picnic lunch. In the afternoon you will have a guided nature walk (sanctuary guide) at the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary, where you might see several kinds of monkeys and varied birdlife.
The next day enjoy a full day’s Chimpanzee Habituation Experience : Kibale Forest offers the greatest variety and concentration of primates in East Africa. Today you will follow a chimpanzee group in its daily activities from early in the morning until late afternoon. Observing the full gamut of their behaviour you will be part of the Uganda Wildlife Authority initiative to habituate chimps to the human presence without changing their natural environment.
Passing over the equator and through stunning scenery you will drive to the Queen Elizabeth NP. In the afternoon you will take the launch trip on the Kazinga Channel. The Kazinga Channel is a natural channel of 36 km long between Lake George and Lake Edward. From the safe boat you can see elephants, hippo, Nile crocodile and many water birds. After the launch trip you will enjoy a late afternoon game drive on your way back to the Lodge.
After breakfast transfer to Ishasha which takes about 3 hours. Ishasha, the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth considered to offer some of the best game viewing in Africa and is famous for its tree climbing lions. Full afternoon game drive.
This is a day on the road. Drive through the meandering Kigezi mountains arriving in Bwindi in the afternoon. The roads are varied after Kisoro making travel slow but scenic!
Talk about saving the best to last. Your last full day you will venture into the Bwindi Mountains for your Gorilla Trekking. You will start your trek early in the morning searching for your assigned habituated group in Nkuringo. Afterward, return to your lodge for relaxation and to pack before your journey home or onward to the beach.
You will have the choice to return to Entebbe Airport or to Kigali in Rwanda where you may wish to visit the fascinating genocide museum before your onward connections.
