Mawe Ninga Camp is located in the mid to northwest section of Tarangire.
The camp is built on a high section of rock kopjes with impressive views out over the surrounding woodlands. The shores of Lake Burungi can be seen to the west, and a glimpse of Lake Manyara is in the far distance to the northwest on a clear day.
The camp has a very rustic style with 12 private tents built amongst the various rock formations on raised wooden decks with thatched roofs.
The furnishings within the tents are authentic whilst minimal, with en suite bathrooms consisting of a long drop toilet and bladder shower. It is worth noting that there is no running water within the camp. Each tent does have a private deck with deck chairs where you can take in the view.
The dining area consists of a simple open thatched building with basic furnishings. The staff are very friendly and natural whilst the kitchen prepares unpretentious good food.
A highlight of staying at Mawe Ninga Camp is that the camp employs local Maasai from surrounding villages who provide a special atmosphere and some fun conversations around the fire pit each evening. The views are truly spectacular from the fire pit which is a great place to sit and take in the genuine nature of your environment.
There is a serious problem though with tsetse flies within this area of the park which can be very irritating.
