Chameleon Hill is charming and completely unique. The colourful lodge sits beside Lake Mutanda with stunning views across the lake to the Virunga Volcanoes. It is located at around 2000m above sea level, between Bwindi and Mgahinga meaning you can stay here and trek in both locations. You can explore by mountain bike and visit the local village too. A stay of 3 or 4 nights to really get into the experience would work really well.
Everywhere you look at the lodge, there is colour and art. Its bold, inspiring and fun and this is the ethos of this lodge throughout. The positivity here is infectious and while some of the design is not to everyone’s taste, it absolutely works.
There are 10 chalets or suites located at the lodge, all positioned to maximise the super lake and mountain views. As with the main lodge, each is designed with great quality features, colour and art aplenty. The food is excellent and is sourced mostly from the impressive kitchen gardens.
The owners’ pets live here too, and you will often find a snoozing dog in a sunny spot, or cats, even chickens pottering about the place.
The lodge has been born from the owners love of the beautiful environment and also of the Ugandan people, and a stay here is all about appreciating both. A genuinely uplifting and special place to stay.
