Bilimungwe Camp is one of six intimate and exclusive bush camps operated by the Bushcamp Company in the unspoilt wilderness of South Luangwa National Parks remote and undeveloped southern sector.
Bilimungwe Camp is nestled beneath a grove of mahogany trees on the edge of a small plain.
There are four very comfortable reed and thatch chalets all have en-suite showers, toilet and double vanities. The red and brown linen and colourful batiks covers give the room an element of style without losing the bushcamp feel.
The rustic dining and bar area is constructed on raised decking with views of Bilimungwe’s permanent water hole and abundant game. The word Bilimungwe means “chameleon” in the local Kamanga language, hence a beautifully carved chameleon sits in the centre of this large thatched building.
A large open, but shaded-sided deck is shaded by a giant mahogany tree and offers fantastic game viewing opportunities at any time of the day or night.
The main activitiy at the “Bushcamps” is walking along with day and night game drives. The guiding here, Manda Chisanga, was joint winner of the Wanderlust guide of the year award.
All the Bushcamp Company’s camps are within walking distance of each other, allowing you to choose, to experience each camp individually, walk through the park by day and camp at a new location at night or to relax for the entire duration of your stay in the camp of your choice.
